Earthdog, pic heavy
Earthdog this past weekend was very enjoyable and fun. What a treat that the earthdog tunnels were buried in a grove of mature pine trees. Lovely! The pine fragrance, chickadees and nuthatches, not to mention the red squirrels, in beautiful red pines. Loved it! Thankfully the areas with the dens were enclosed with fencing so you didn't have to worry that your dog would chase a squirrel into the woods. The 2 judges came in from the States, one drove from Washington! Holy crow! Don't think he'll do that twice! lol
Here's the photos...
This is what the box with the rat looks like..
Where the box is dropped into. You can see solid wood pegs to keep the dog from reaching the cage.
Den entrance..
There is a trap door for the rat cage and another door to retrieve the dog which has a long hole on the top for the judge to see in.
Me and Georgia at the entrance into the pines..
One of the terriers..
You can see Georgia..
One of the terriers made it to the rat, judge checking and time the 'work it'.
Some participants..
This fella is related to my 3..
Georgia being held by Kathy..
This wire guy had a crazy mohawk happening..
Fun with Beau...
If only we brought Beau's blue flannel shirt! He would have been so awesome driving this antique tractor! lol I wish I had the John Deere hat too. lol
Thanks for sharing the weekend with us!

Love the pictures! Someone had posted information about the "Huntersbroad crest" and how it's considered lucky-I can send you a link if you're interested.

Sure!
Is that a way to put a good spin on something that may be viewed as less than desirable?? It's 'lucky' !! lol

I don't think so. I'd always thought it was a fault, but we had a discussion on FB about it, and almost all of the show breeders on there considered it lucky, and didn't consider it a fault at all. I was surprised!
