Rules for new members requesting membership..

Please be aware that if you are browsing this site and want to become a member, you have to fill out your entire profile or your account will be deactivated. I will check back every so often for a day or so and if you have not filled out your profile to provide me with a decent summary of who you are, I will deactivate your account. This is to protect our forum from spammers and to let me know who you are. If you have a problem or question, feel free to email me personally and I will resolve any issues you may have. I am looking over profiles and seeing members with not so much as even a gender marked. Take time to fill out your information.

My you are a tough administrator! LOL! I am a lurker on a few forums but do speak on occasion but i never have been deleted for not participating on an active basis. Are we overstepping in being so vigilant? Sometimes people read forums to learn more about what they are interested in and when comfortable they do and will post from time to time. Let us not be so tough on non-posters. Ruth

Ruth I really think that if people are interested enough to join they should at least introduce themselves and pop in to say hi occasionally :: even if it is only to post a cute picture make a comment or ask a question .

I agree with you! But when reading over the requirements it seems well rather invasive to me. Let all who want to join do so whether just to watch and learn and feel their way through and then perhaps participate. I am afraid we are scaring people off of this forum. Ruth

When people join, I need to know the basic information about them so I know who they are. If they do not post the general info; name, gender, even location, how am I to know that it isn't spam? or spyware? or worse a minor? They get full access to this forum when they join and EVERYTHING that is discussed, posted, listed...they even get all our members information without posting theirs. The least they can do is post the basic information that the forum has already listed. I can tell who most people are by the regular user names and email's I see...but sometimes I can't.
I just want everyone to have a good time and enjoy the site and allow the admin/mods be able to run it and keep it functioning the way it needs to be...more spammers and spyware will clog it up with ad's...I absolutely do not want that. If they get scared off because I want to know who they are in their profile, then so be it. It isn't too much to ask. The site programming asks that you check out members regularly for spammers anyway. As far as the de-activation of the account on members that do not post...there are three options for users that do not post...30, 60 & 90 days. If I do not pick one, they automatically pick 30 days. I have it set at 90 days because I do not want our members accounts de-activated because they are off busy with a show or sick or out of town.

My hats off to you Jenn and the other moderators. I had no idea how bad things have gotten with spammer and such. What is a minor? Ruth
