Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
Ok, so my camera batteries are MIA..I will have to take a set of pics of each puppy, then charge batteries and take more of the next. Here is Chloe at about 5 1/2 weeks...
Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
Jenn, take a front pic and lift her slightly off the table so we can see a better view of how her "wrap around" is. Looks like she is nicely balanced but not sure of the "head", is it the way she is acting or does she have that "chi dome" doing on? Ruth

Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
I will have to let my camera batteries charge a bit longer, they go dead after about 5 minutes ..here is a picture I took of her head earlier. She doesn't have a "chi-dome" head at all...it isn't as nice as I like, but it is ok. Little too much stop for me and not as masculine as I like...but, I have seen worse I suppose, lol...
It was very hard getting her to stand still and trying to take pics while the batteries were still active...right now all they want to do is bite and chew everything they see and everyone that touches them...

Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
BTW...I will not attept to take stacked pics at this age anymore WITHOUT drugs!!!! I can't get a good pose and when I do, the fronts are either cropped out of the pics or they sit as soon as I snap a shot..Anyway, here is Sammy...being...Sammy, in other words, a TOTAL brat!!....
I hate all these pics today, they are so ugly right now

Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
I have a hard time evaluating puppies that young, especially without a good stack. The first girl has a lovely topline and tail set-she looks maybe a bit hocky? Her head and earset look fine to me, but then I'm not a great judge of a head on a puppy either, so I tend not to look at them much. Her front assembly looks better in the photo facing left than the one facing right-hard to tell.
Something about the little red boy reminds me of his grandma, Maureen. (my edit. for some reason I thought Sammy was a girl! )

Sammy is a girl.
Who is Maureen? Are you talking about Ruth's Mo? This litter is from Ch Erik & Libby..Libby's pedigree is on my web site (well, her sire and dam's that is)..her dam was my red standard Leah from Pramada's kennel and her sire's name is Zach.
Sammy is a girl. Sammy & Nicole are the two red females, Chloe & Quinn are the two shaded creams and Brady is the red male....Geesh ladies, keep up with your Days characters !!!

She is a bit hocky, I don't mind so much, but Cindy may feel differently since she is the one going to show the pup in this litter..All the pups tailsets and heads are ok, not as nice as I would have liked (since I am a head kind of gal {NO PUN INTENDED!!}) But, I have a hard time feeling like any of my pups heads are as nice as they could be when I have Queen Buffy here. I wish I had done better by her and trained her like I should have ..I could have her in the ring now if she had the temperament..The first girl has a lovely topline and tail set-she looks maybe a bit hocky?

Well, I was right the first time, does that count? Yes, I meant she reminds me of Ruth's Maureen. I don't know why-but I immediately thought of her when I saw that puppy's face.
Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
LOL! Sorry i don't watch daytime TV but those pups are nice! Ruth

Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
Well "Days" means nothing to me, I couldn't see a willy so Sammy was a girl. I totally sympathise about taking puppy pics on your own you get them how I want them and lean back to get the pic and they move, at this age they have the attention span of a gnat, I can take 30 shots of one pup and may get 2 worth using,so glad we have digital now because no way could I afford all that film and processing we did in years gone by
It is too early to worry about the stop it should improve with age and is not a major fault.
They are both nice looking pups,I prefer Chloe over Sammy, she is less dainty, has a longer body and more my cup of tea.
Look forward to seeing how they mature and what the evaluations say.

I think the photo's are better for Chloie, its hard to tell...i like the rear and front better on sammy. Chloe has the better topline and length. You need some help with these pictures...i dont think it is fair for the pups to me picked with these photo's
Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
I think there heads will flatten out very nicely...they just have very defined craniums which is a good thing.

Ha ha..you got that right..Honestly, last night I just was a little stressed and should have waited until today to even try taking pics. I can't find my batteries to my camera and everytime I got a good shot the stupid camera would start beeping because the batteries I was using were going dead ..
They are still little things..still a few good weeks to grow and develop and I know they will change tremendously...still have three more sets to take today of the other siblings...I guess I will attempt to do that in a bit
Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
In the next few weeks just concentrate on them being happy on the table so it becomes second nature to them, by the time they are 8 weeks old it should be easier to get pics.
I got into the habit of each time I picked them up I would pop them on the table in front of the mirror[visitors wanted to know why I had a mirror hanging at my waist height] so I could see the side the judge was going to see and if the pup was moving it's feet etc.,it only took a minute or two each time and they learnt what was instore including the tasty treats so they would be queueing up for their turn.

Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
LOL...Yes, but they are worthless. I have been so busy helping with my brother (very bad injured) I have not had time to do anything! I go Sunday to have them evaluated and I am stopping by Ruth's and I am going to stick these puppers on her stackers! I can not get a stack for anything anymore...I miss my porch railing at my old house ...I promise, pics will be taken Sunday!!!!

I am sure you do. I just picked up using my deck rail because I always loved how yours turned out.
Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
I am so frustrated with the weather right now...can't stay connected long enough to get all the front and back end photo's downloaded...they kept slipping off the stackers, a couple didn't want to cooperate at all! LOL...Quinn was VERY naughty, his stack is basically the ONLY thing he would do..pretty much know now, even at 7 weeks, who is most likely pet quality and who may turn out well enough...just have to see I suppose..
Chloe...
Nicole...
Sammy...
Quinn (the absolute BEST he would do!! lol)...
Brady...

Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
Interesting. I like all three girls better than I like both boys (though, let's face it, Quinn's not exactly easy to evaluate ) I really like Sammy and Nicole, and I think Chloe would be worth growing out some too.
Re: Libby & Ch Erik puppies...
...I almost didn't bother..really just wanted to show his orneriness..I liked Nicole best, but starting to lean towards Sammy now. Still waiting to hear Cindy's opinion on the 7 week pics. Still a bit early, just wanted to get an idea of how they were growing. I will try to get thse front and rear pics up later when the weather clears up.by Proud Lake Dachshunds on Mon 26 Sep 2011 - 15:37

I prefer the girls too.
The boys are rather long in the hock, Quinn gets an E for effort, at least he didn't run away, you need to tell him Auntie Rhona isn't happy if she can't see the willy's on the boys
Look forward to hearing what the others have to say.
